Dark Angel
Side Effects by Minkmix
It really, really shouldn’t be funny… but I’m a bad, wrong person, and Alec on roofies is a very DA-esque thing to happen.
Caliente by Minkmix
Alec gets introduced to Mexican food.
Last Call by Minkmix
I like this one. It’s kind of grungy and sultry and animal, a good look at the contrast between Alec the sexual creature and X5-494.
Merry Gentlemen by Minkmix
I love Normal. I love Sketchy. I adore almost every secondary character on this show far more than Max or Logan. Which is why this just brings so much cackling and joy to my heart. ‘Tis the season — bip bip bip!
Objects in Motion by trolllogicfic
A Season 1 character study of Max and Logan, and you know it’s a must-read if I adore it and it features no Alec.
Shadow by nilchance
Supernatural crossover, and wonderful examination of how strange and different Alec is from Dean, and how he gets to fit into their lives.
He’s not as pale as Dean (yet), has fewer impressive scars. Alec’s scars are subtler, insidious, a repeated pattern of scalpel and syringe. Sam doesn’t know where they came from, can’t recount each stitch he or Dad made. Alec dealt with his old scars on his own, and he’s not telling their history.
Cake (or, Other Four-Letter Words) by amidalashari
Pure Alec/Max fluff, with great banter (well, inasmuch as Max banters — maybe it’s better to say that the Alec-voice is great). Post-series.
“Aw, honey,” he says, taking a step forward. “You baked.”
lie down beneath this bowl of stars by Musesfool
Post-series; post-apocalypse; post-narrative arc. Alec’s timing sucks.
“So, what are you gonna do?” she asks, finally. She tips her head back to look up at the stars instead of at Alec’s too familiar profile. “New York? New Orleans? LA?”
“Yeah,” he says, with a soft laugh. “Gonna shake the dust of this town off my feet and see the world.”
They’d talked about it a lot over the past two years, during long night shifts on duty, over cups of bad coffee or cheap beer, on this very roof sometimes. Soon she’ll be able to go to the Space Needle again to do her thinking, and Joshua will go to gallery openings in San Francisco, and Alec can go wherever he damn well pleases.
Firefly
A Practical Approach by Trinity Vixen
“I want to get married,” Zoe repeated, stone calm while Wash swallowed thick, like he was putting whole ostrich eggs through his gullet.
Harry Potter
One For Sorrow by lilith_morgana
Eileen Prince sings to her baby in Azkaban. Gorgeous and chilling and — well, potion-like: it steeps into you like the accumulation of long years of watching.
Changeling by lydiabennet
Summary: Fred wants a dog more than anything, and he’ll do anything to get one. Anything at all.
Sixteen ways to tell the Weasley twins apart by kaydeefalls

FRANKIE SAYS RELAX (SECTION A) by cynicalpirate
Hysterical Marauders-era fic, and I’m hoping there’ll be more, because it reads like a first installment. You won’t be sorry you started it, though.
Remus intervened and explained what cunnilingus was. Everybody refused to believe him. How did he know? He just knows. NO-ONE just knows something like that. Remus attempted to fight his corner, but soon admitted defeat. It was a bit like playing Scrabble, spelling a word like ‘cazique’ or ‘dhoti’ and having no dictionary to back yourself up with.
“You couldn’t do that to a girl,” James said sagely, with infinite fourth-year wisdom. “You can get put in Azkaban for shit like that.”
At the Turning of the Year by Penknife
Summary: Draco Malfoy and six Christmas Days.
Pirates of the Caribbean
Like a Leaf on the Water by Penknife
They were both different people, once, or maybe they weren’t that different after all. Chinese pirates from PotC:AWE done right, by god. Hell, this is practically original fiction, and it’s just marvelous — I promise it’ll stick with you.
And These Strange Waters by Girl Wonder
The secrets that Tia Dalma gives are not gifts.
The Princess Bride
The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Westley and Buttercup by atrata
Summary: The sign on Miracle Max’s door read, “In case of apocalypse, GO AWAY.”
This is stunning. Stunning and horrible and pitch-perfect and awful and you should all read it immediately. There is nothing that isn’t perfect about this fic — the character voices, the narration, the framing device, the wryness, the geography, the geopolitics, just — I can’t go on. Is too perfect.
Once Westley and Buttercup were ashore, word of their presence spread quickly; someone had printed up pamphlets. Most of the people felt Westley had sparked the uprising in the first place, and so they naturally looked to him as their leader. They flocked to his banner (he didn’t even realize he had a banner) and before he knew it, he was the leader of a small peasant army and had a secret training camp in the Fire Swamp, safe from Humperdinck’s men.
“Look,” he told Buttercup one evening, untying his hair with a sigh. “It’s not that I don’t appreciate the gesture. Their faith in me is really quite gratifying. It’s just that after five years of piracy and that day of being mostly dead, I had rather hoped to settle down.”
Stargate: Atlantis
The Epic Tale of Rodney & John, Two Girl Scout Cookies in Love [The Pix or it Didn't Happen Remix] by bitter_crimson
This is old news to the SGA fandom, but it makes me shake my head in awe all the same. You don’t have to know the series to shriek with laughter, though it does make it even better.
Now, Samoas are pretty complex: a vanilla cookie covered with caramel and coconut and chocolate. Not everybody likes them (even though they’re actually the second most popular Girl Scout cookie). Some people just don’t get Samoas, or think they’re a bit too much.
Thin Mints, on the other hand, are COOKIE SLUTS.
SGA: Daemonology by trinityofone
It’s true what they say about SGA fandom being full of fucking amazing writers. This is SGA/HDM daemonfic, and it’s just marvelous.
Rodney remembers all his dreams, of course, in brilliant Technicolor detail. He’ll wake up panting and short of breath and, of all ridiculous things, hungry, so he’ll think on the lights and rip open yet another powerbar, taking big bites and fast swallows, pausing only to break off a few crumbs for Tyk. She eats daintily, but then, everything she does looks dainty; it’s all a matter of perspective, isn’t it?
He mentions this theory to her and they talk it out. Tyk is a perfect sounding board: the only other creature in the world who’s as smart as he is.
Star Trek XI (Reboot)
Untitled by traveller
According to some book canon, Christine Chapel is from New Orleans. You can almost smell the air in this fic, which remembers everything about this city.
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip
There Ain’t No Lighter For These Damn Cigarettes by minervacat
“Matt,” Danny says. “So we fucked up. We’ve fucked up before, and on bigger scales than this. Life keeps going.”
“This is why you’re not the funny one,” Matt says. “It’s because you’re the reasonable one.”
“I tried to kill Ricky and Ron,” Danny says. “I’m only reasonable compared to you.”
What To Do On The Way Down by minervacat
Summary: No comedian you admire has ever been afraid of silence. Harriet comes up.

How to win Jordan McDeere over.
Early by Mojo
Post-”The Christmas Show” (with spoilers for everything), a serious conversation about feelings. Possibly my favorite Studio 60 fic ever.
He hated the start of a new year. He was a writer. He was scared of blank pages.
Toasty (Yuletide)
Cal-centric, but truly marvelous characterization all around. Secretive Danny! Dry Jordan! Demented Santa Claus! Thoroughly schnockered Matt! The wrap party after “The Christmas Show,” and what a jolly evening it has been.
The West Wing
The Great Zombie Invasion of 2001 by netgirl_y2k
“Is this in the Constitution?” Toby asked, as they all pelted hell for leather through the Communications bullpen. Josh didn’t answer, mainly because he was still reeling from seeing Donna dispatch a zombie using nothing but her plastic salad fork.
Cheese, Bagels, and the End of the World by tinkerbell99
“Josh? You’re not pawning your cheese meeting off on me, are you? I’ve gotten the raw end of that deal before and I did my time with the fish guy.”

X-Men, Marvelverse & 1602
Safe by kaydeefalls
An amazing piece about Jean going to college, and getting what she left for, if not in the form she expected. The characterizations are painfully good, and none of the plot feels forced or cheesy. Also, this is a Raven Darkholme I’ve never seen anywhere else. Brilliant and astonishing; a highly good read!

The Warmth on the Street by bantha_fodder
Logan and Rogue have different reactions to the events of X3. They both converge on a single point, however.
The Care and Feeding of Smart Houses by Phoenixchilde (Eureka/Iron Man)
It’s all fun and games until the sentience shows up. No knowledge of Eureka necessary to adore this fic.
“JARVIS, this isn’t the left ankle joint, it’s your blueprints.” Tony sighed and waved a hand across the holographic outline of his home, sending it into a lazy spin before he closed the file. JARVIS’ silence was faintly mutinous. “Look, don’t sulk at me, all I’m saying is that we all know where this went with Victor Frankenstein and it’s not something I wanna take part in.”
